We all come to relationships with some preconceived ideas and judgments based on our past experience. This history, although valid, is not always applicable to the person in front of you right here and right now. This new relationship will be burdened by the past from both participants; but, what if we could let go of some of those preconceived ideas and judgments – make more space – and be open to what we can bring to this relationship and what it can offer us?
Positive relationships are supportive, healthy, fair, compassionate, strong, and powerful for all parties involved. Through this “opening up” and letting go process we find a more authentic and compassionate voice as well as the ability to “hear” the other person with less judgment and an open mind.
Today, we are working with the hips – an area some researchers believe holds some of our deepest emotional history (or as I call it – our heavy suitcase). Our practice is meant to open some space for positive and supportive relationships to blossom without the weight of old ideas and judgments. We will also work with pranayama to help connect to our “communication” center of the throat and ears to help us express ourselves with authenticity and to hear others expression more clearly.
I nurture healthy and supportive relationships in my life.
