Meditation Tip of the Week
The No Alternative Option. I LOVE this idea and have incorporated it into my personal practice as well. Here it is. If you ever sit down for meditation and while trying to meditate you think of all the things you could be doing, should be doing, work you need to do and cannot settle in - tell yourself that even if you don't deeply meditate - you will sit here for 10-15 minutes doing nothing. You CANNOT go do, see, check, whatever. You have NO ALTERNATIVE to your meditation time. You cannot check your phone, your email, message, eat breakfast, call someone. This is your meditation time and there is no other activity you are allowed to do during this time other than meditate or sit and do nothing.
This has been a game changer for me as a sole business owner. I now don't have the option to get up and just give up. I have to stay and sit. Might as well meditate, right?
