Ahimsa is the first Yama in the Yamas and Niyamas in the 8 fold path of yoga. The Yamas are the basic tenets for our relationships with the world and this first Yama is the guide post for all that follow. This Yama is often interpreted as nonviolence or non-harming and can include refraining from physical violence outward and inward to more subtle things such as words said, actions taken towards others/ourselves/the earth. How are we living a life that includes this Yama daily?
Today we explore Ahimsa in our own practice - feeling it in our bodies, recognizing where we can bring more non-harming into our own lives through mindful presence and honoring our own minds and bodies in the moment.
