In Ayurveda, we are made up of one, two or all three doshas. Our "base" dosha is what we have been throughout our lives and at times, one or the other doshas will be out of balance.
Kapha is made up of earth and water and is more dense and grounded in nature. Compassionate, loving, stable and kind, kapha dosha dominant people are those who crave and LOVE ritual and consistency. When out of balance, kapha dosha can be overweighted making you feel sluggish, very tired and sleepy and maybe a little cranky (also weight gain and water retention). When in balance, kapha dominant people tend to be very stable, have good digestion and good sleep.
Today we are working with bringing some air and lightness to the weightiness of Kapha through stronger movements, more breath, and a focus on keeping digestion running well.
Seasonally, some doshas are related to speific times of year too. Kapha is related to late winter and in Spring we have a natural tendency to crave clearing out kapha accumulation with more active movement, twists, and digestion balancing practices.
