In today's Yin yoga practice we focus on balancing the Liver, Bladder and Gallbladder meridians and mobilizing the connective tissue in the hips, inner & outer legs, and the entire back to release tension and bring balance to the meridian systems - preventing and relieving headaches. We also stretch the neck to release tension in the upper back, neck and shoulders to relieve & prevent tension headaches.
There is some research that shows imbalances in the Liver, Bladder and Gallbladder meridians can lead to headaches so when we balance these, we could prevent headaches or bring some relief. Feel free to hold the poses longer and/or take a much longer savasana at the end with an eye covering or eye pillow to deepen the relaxation and relieve headaches. Enjoy!
